Monday Night’s Met Gala brought out all of the A list stars, and the red carpet did not disappoint. There were (potential) TV reunions (I might be the only one who noticed/cared) and celebrity couples who looked like they belonged in a rom-com. Let’s recap.
Tom and Giselle, Kim and Kanye, Emma and Andrew, John and Chrissy, Blake and Ryan, Jay and Bey. All 6 couples looked better (and more in love) than ever. Kimye deserves most improved after Kim’s disastrous flower gown last year, and Kanye even managed to look like less of a jerk (see Kim’s 10,000 instagram posts for more proof). I’m giving best dressed to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, and included two pictures of them because they look that good. Two people that beautiful deserve each other (and one can only hope her Gossip Girl costar Leighton Meester–who also attended– met up with them so they could all soak up each other’s awesomeness). Jay-Z and Beyoncé come in a close second for best dressed, and Jay’s “proposal” on the red carpet (Beyoncé dropped her ring and he picked it up) comes in as one of the best Jay and Bey red carpet moments ever.
Part of me wonders if someone thought it would be funny to get the two worst dressed of the night– Lena Dunham and Shailene Woodley– and ask them to take a picture together. I bet they discussed bad haircuts and Lena tried to get Shailene to guest star on Girls next season. My favorite Lupita Nyong’o wasn’t looking her best, but if you pretend she’s at Mardi Gras (green! purple! beads!) with Dianna Agron (and whoever the other lady is) instead of a ball, it totally works.
Putting rumors of a feud to rest, Selena Gomez posted a video of her and Taylor Swift dancing at the Gala. I’m glad these two besties decided to work it out, but I can’t help but notice the timing. It seems Selena has finally put Justin Bieber behind her, and as a result Taylor is ready to be her friend again. Way to stay strong, Tay— it’s obvious Sel needed some tough love. #DownWithTheBiebs #TeamSaylor
Jen, Joey and Pacey together again! Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson all attended the Gala, and my TV heart can only hope the former Dawson’s Creek costars reunited inside. I bet they discussed where all of the characters would be now, how happy Joey & Pacey would be and how much they all hate Dawson.
Selena and Jessica Alba get honorable mention, but the two weirdest group of “friends” at the Gala have to be the Rihanna-Reese-Kate-Cara combo and the Beckham-Olsen foursome. I think Ri Ri, Reese, Kate and Cara should start an all girl band and go on tour. Or make a movie a la John Tucker Must Die and/or The Other Woman (I bet they talked about these two options, and decided on the movie because Rihanna and Reese couldn’t pick between pop and country music for the band). The Olsen Twins and Posh & Becks probably discussed how rich they were and contemplated working together on a fashion line. Posh also asked the girls to come to Harper’s next birthday party to sing their hit “Brother for Sale.” The twins agreed.
Take that, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. You’re only worth 50 cents:
